How is the weather?
I had an interesting conversation with a fellow Realtor when I was down in Atlantic City at the Triple Play Real Estate Convention last week . She stated, "Why is it that when we ask someone about the weather, it is assumed that we are talking about the local weather. But when we hear stories or comments about real estate "conditions", folks act as though the real estate market "weather conditions" are the same across the entire nation?" How often have we heard comments like "Hey, I hear that people are not buying homes right now", or " To be able to sell your house, you need to give it away", or " No one can get a home mortgage loan right now", or I love this one, "I hear that home prices are down around 40% (or 30% or 50%)!"
There are no 100% general statements or market conditions that affect every real estate market across the country. Just like the weather, real estate is local, and every market is unique in its own special way.
If you want to find out about the real estate market in your local area, ask a Realtor today.
