The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!

To all:

I received an email today from a friend that read, in part, "My cousin lives in Bergen County and a realtor told her there will be no more sales during this calendar year.  Is it that bad out there?"

There is enough in our lives to worry about without having alarmists and naysayers add this kind of stress to people's already over-burdened lives. Here was my reply to my friend:

I really get upset when agents or others start with the Chicken Little cry of "the sky is falling".  There will be plenty of homes sold and closed between now and the end of the year.  Sure, things are slow because of the continued uncertainty in the economy.  But homes still continue to sell (I started working with a new first time buyer this week) and close title (I have a closing today at noon).

We are still in a buyers market, with tight mortgage lending standards, and buyers who are still uncertain.  But mortgage loans are still at record low interest rates, home prices are the lowest in years, and the selection of available homes for sale is fantastic.  The smart buyers are out there looking to buy homes.

So now let's all take a deep breath, look at only reliable objective statistics, and realize that we still live in the greatest nation in the world, with opportunities for freedom and enjoyment for all.
