Why the real estate market is so important.

Well, we got through another year in the current "Real Estate Adjustment Period" of the ever-changing cycle of real estate ups and downs.  The good news is that most experts feel that in this area of the country, we are at the bottom of the adjustment cycle.  While no one is predicting a really rapid rise in prices, (which is what we really do not need again!) most feel that we will start to see a modest uptick in prices for the next few years.

I was speaking to some people today about what a profound impact the real estate industry has on the overall economy.  Just imagine what would happen if real estate prices start to rise over the next few years at a modest 2.5-3.5% rate.  The number of homes that would no longer be "under water" would be tremendous.  Home owners would no longer be in a great rush to sell their homes, no longer fearing a continued loss in equity from falling market prices. Home owners would have more of an incentive to spend money on their homes, as well as on other durable and non-durable goods purchases as they experience a renewed optimism about the economy and their own place in it.

I can think of no better way to get the economy moving again that a re-invigorated confidence in real estate.  Building bridges and re-paving roads sound like good political electioneering, but the segment of the economy that really affects most people and that can have a huge affect on the entire economy is real estate.

Let's support those who understand this important message.
